There's no better source for sensual body hummus, covers of lost Stephen King classics like Stove Wolf, images of Months of the Year calendars, or excerpts from the esoteric and wonderful bestsellers in the "business fantasy" genre. I have been making people cry with laughter by showing them this tumblr for years--so grateful to no longer have to crowd around a four-inch screen to show them the wonders of owl lotion, sweet potato dolls, celebrity wood carving, cussin' bears, and more. Particularly grateful to revisit forgotten favorites like the biography Affleck: A Life in Raisins and the ever- brilliant Apple Cabin circulars!

I have never cry laughed at a magazine type book before. It's so clever, and so funny and SO TRUE! The "birds w/ human penises" and "Dress your cursed and haunted doll collection in humiliating outfits".. If you can handle the truth buy this book!!

I grew up on Mad Magazine, and my first exposure to “adult” media was those tacky glossy 70s magazines, so the targets of Teharatchi’s parody humor really strike a chord with me. But his subjects and inspirations range much wider, to even encompass things like romance novels, mini-mall signage, music albums from the 50s and 60s, coloring books, you name it.Although the content is great (except for maybe too many pages of Netflix show description parodies), in many cases a single page will show multiple images of things like books covers, posters, and the like - and squeezing it all small enough to fit often makes text very hard to read for my 55 year old eyes.Additionally, descriptive notes (also in a tiny font) on much of the content are all piled up in an appendix at the end of the book, when it would have been nicer (but maybe not as slick looking) to put them on the same pages as their relevant content.

An inconceivably funny book which satirizes pretentiousness and logic with dispassionate brilliance. This gut-wrenchingly hilarious satire was written by a strange mind with unique thought processes that tumble forth from an undiscovered, insane galaxy. It features a style of humor unlike any I have previously seen or heard, much like the first time I encountered Andy Kaufman's satire of performance itself. And like Kaufman's approach, this book satirizes the very act of writing humor. In my opinion, one of the smartest, stupidest, weirdest and funniest books ever written. In the two weeks since I got this I've been pulling into my lap during commercial breaks, and almost immediately breaking out into hysterical guffaws, even I've already seen the thing I'm laughing at on tumblr or else in the book the day before. Stove Wolf alone - that simple picture - is hilarious. My laughing makes me embarassed - like my GF is seeing some side of me that is not as mature and attractive as I'd like to depict; it's humor might kind of lost on some of my more millennial friends who maybe haven't spent enough time bored out of their minds in dollar stores, thrift shops, flea markets, book close-out barns, and all the other sad places where American pop culture's also-rans go to fade away (if you were a child in the 70s - dragged to a lot of such places by mom - this is for you); or watched a lot of weird Netflix or Ice T as a cop in some Homicide or CSI or SVU, or Blade Runner - i could go on, but I daren't. Genius and the confidence to put little details (what Manny Farber called termite art) into weird corners where it takes actually looking and thinking to get the joke - and the graphic art/blending whatever is so spot on it's hard to believe it's not actually real. A JOY

This is a fantastically funny and creative book by an absolute master of image manipulation and absurdist humor. I found the LiarTown tumblr site a while ago, and was excited to see there would be a book. In fact, this is literally the only book I have ever pre-ordered. Although "pre-ordering" doesn't make any more sense than "pre-boarding" an airplane, really, so let's just say I ordered it before it was actually available. Okay? Fine. Anyway, the book is hilarious. And profane. Hilariously profane.Buy it.

It's a shame there will never be an exact replica of the photo blog. However any record of his humorous multimedia take on the wacky marketing is valuable. It gets really cosmic at times, and really low.Anyhow Were it not for Sean Tejaratchi's Tumblr it would have been a very dim 2014 and 15 for me indeed. This is funny like the guy who swallowed a sea urchin in the ER. It makes light of the sexual mores and signage of Los Angeles probably better than anybody in the last twenty years..although here's another pop culture recommend a movie called "the Boys and Girls Guide to Getting Down" from 10 years ago........Vale Steve Blackmom !

I don't know how to describe it, but this guy has "it". He's damn funny. Some bits of comedy make me laugh but Liartown makes me laugh over and over again. The 'shops all look real, too.

I was so excited to get this for my five year old son to start the dialogue of his heritage and culture in New Mexico..we’ve been enjoying reading the stories together and they are short, sweet, and well-written!

It is another book that I read in one day because it was so entertaining. It contains stories that my parents and grandparents used to tell. It was worth the money.

This attractive collection is divided into:Legends, including Supernatural legends, Religious legends, and a single Historical legend, andFolktales, including Universal folktales, Cautionary tales, and a single Humorous tale.This bilingual edition doesn't follow the usual "facing page" format, instead putting the English translations first with the Spanish originals following. An innovation I would like to see picked up by other compilers of such works, as it seems to me distracting to have text and translation within eyeshot of each other.Both the English and Spanish texts are written in a straightforward style, poetic in the manner of oral lore. The Spanish was direct enough to be comprehensible to this non-native speaker. How far it corresponds to the actual speech of representative tellers I cannot judge.My only criticism would be the lack of notes, unfortunately common enough in popular publishings of folklore (but good grief, this is produced by the "Museum of New Mexico Press"!). Folklore arises from a people who have their own assumptions and idiosyncracies, and to the shame of America, this culture, whose antecedents predate much of the European invasion, is not well known away from the immediate locality. Further, many of these tales occur in many significant variants. For example, dig about in collections of Southwest Hispanic or Mexican folklore, and you will encounter many radically different takes on La Llorona, the Weeping Woman. The text included in this book is more or less suitable for reading before mixed company, but some of the others, wow!Over the whole, though, an enjoyable and edifying book.

This storyteller and published author from New Mexico is authentic. She loves to perform all her "cuentos" stories which she writes. You will enjoy both of her books. She is unique and her style of retelling her stories will leave you wanting more. Paulette Atencio is kind and loves what she does. Please contact her for one of her book readings or on stage performances. From what I understand a new book will be coming out in the near furture and hopefully Amazon will once again carry all three books. Thank you amazon for your support on these wonderful books!

Contrary to some of the other reviews, I do think this book gives some valuable insight into techniques for unit-testing embedded code. However, I found the coding style used within the book to be confusing at best, and I'm also not thrilled by CppUTest, the testing framework the author chose (and is one of the authors of).The best feature of the book is the discussions of TDD with examples in C. This was really useful, and helped me figure out some techniques for testing techniques from other languages which I hadn't come to on my own. However...This is one of those books where the author makes a lot of coding choices without revealing why the choices were made; there's a TON of assumptions such as: - function names which are clearly intended to give a hint as to what they do, but don't actually explain anywhere. Lots of, "well, I _THINK_ this is what he's trying to do here" - it works out most of the time, but makes me very frustrated in the moment. - code examples which are fragmentary. There seems to be a lot left out of the code listings, perhaps to save space (nobody wants to read a book that's just source code) - but the fact that the code accompanying the book doesn't even build cleanly out of the box in 2016 on a Mac (I had to make a number of adjustments to get it to build) makes this extra frustrating, because I didn't have a reference as to the author's intent a lot of the time. Sure, maybe in 2011 the examples worked out of the box, but the fact that it's rotted so much gives me pause regarding overall quality. - writing tests in C++ for C code is even more annoying that I thought it would be. Yes, it's possible. Yes, not having to remember to add a test in multiple places is helpful. Really, though, I guess I just don't like CppUTest - it suffers from many of the same shortcomings as this book. Lots of assumptions built in about how to use it, build it, and link against it. This makes some sense, coming from a subject matter expert who hasn't actually had to start from a place of ignorance in a while.The market probably isn't there to support it, but I'd love to see a new edition of this book - maybe spend some time on other testing tools or frameworks for C developers? (cmocka, anyone?)

I am currently working on bringing modern development practices to an ARM embedded software project with legacy code. I have quite a bit of unit testing experience, and found myself still interested in reading the whole text and not just skimming. This book has been a huge help! It shows for example ways to intercept and test hardware I/O. Unfortunately some source code editing is required, but (realistically) how would you avoid that?

I probably wouldn't have purchased this book if I knew the challenge I would be getting into to try and build any of the textbook examples. In 3 hours, I've corrected more issues trying to build the cpputest code and the book sample code than I can count so far, and I'm still not at the bottom of the rabbit hole of build environment issues. I'm questioning whether it's really worth getting to the bottom of.Maybe the textbook content will be great without running the examples. If you want to run the examples, be prepared to spend hours troubleshooting.

Lot's of examples to help the reader understand the concepts. I thought it would've been better if more coverage would've been given to working with the provided complex makefiles (via the downloads). If you're not really good at complex makefiles, it may be difficult to figure out how to make this work in your process. All in all though, a really good book. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it, multiple times.

I highly recommend attending a training seminar with James to get yourself kick-started quickly on this - as a 16-year veteran embedded C programmer, it was not a trivial new skill.

I've heard people say that TDD is not for Embedded, maybe for Web but not for Embedded. James Grenning, does a great job at showing how it can work for Embedded and it will help reducing bugs. I definitely recommend this book!

Tim Green has published an amazing book called “Baseball Great”. Josh loves baseball, and is the best baseball player in his town. His dad was a pick out of high school to play in the pros. Josh’s dad wants Josh to be the best player and make it to the pros. While having the best stuff which means playing for the best team, having the best coach, and doing whatever it takes to become great. A friend of Josh’s named Benji bought the school newspaper and saw Josh on the cover of it. Benji wouldn’t stop teasing Josh about the girl that wrote the report that about Josh, and thought that she loved him. The reporter’s name was Jaden Neidermeyer. Josh was just starting try outs for the school baseball team when his dad shows up and takes him to the best team in Syracuse called the Titans. “Here’s their practice facility” (Pg. 33). What Josh didn’t know that he would be playing for a U14 team when he was twelve. One night while walking Jaden to the hospital (Where her dad worked) and he saw a car with the license plate saying “ DO IT 2 IT”. Josh got a suspicion because that was his coach’s car (His coach’s name is Rocky). Josh hid and saw his coach carry a bag full of canisters that were full of pills. A couple of days later Rocky took the team to Destiny USA. Later that night a kid named Tucker on Josh’s team told Josh to meet him at Schiller Park at eight. When Josh got there Tucker handed Josh a bottle of some gym candy (Otherwise known as steroids). Josh also finds out that Rocky gave them to Tucker. After days of research, Jaden figured out that the pill Josh was given was Anadrol-17 an anabolic steroid. Jaden also found out that steroids could severely hurt or kill kids. Josh now knowing what was going on him, Jaden, and Benji planned on staking out the hospital until they found Rocky getting the steroids. They needed to catch him in the act so they had proof. While at practice one night Josh saw Rocky head into the locker room. When Josh got home Benji called and asked where he was. Josh said he was home. Then Benji said that Jaden told him that Josh was supposed to be there. Will Josh ever stop Rocky? Will Josh be able to save Jaden in time? I recommend this book to anyone between good readers in sixth grade to eighth grade who likes to read sports fiction but also a little mystery and adventure too.

This book was right down my alley with sporty competition and choices of which you have to decide what is right no matter what the outcome of things you have to endeaur and the adversarys that you might have to face... Looking forward to reading the next book in the series and gave 4 stars because I thought it had unfinished resolutions and there was not enough explanation to the aftermath of the events at the end of the story. (That is why I am looking forward to reading the next book). Besides that, it was a great book. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes sports, a good morally right story that involves tough choices and whoever likes humor.

My son is 8, and this book is too mature for him. There is little baseball action and is mostly about mean people. I don't think he's enjoying it like he has Matt Christopher and others.

Do it to it! A good read with a mostly good message. And plenty of cheesy moments. Hard to believe Josh was only 12. My kids are just under that so they think Josh is pretty cool new.

It is a thrilling book with a lot of kid friendly nessI like this book because you don't know what's going to happen next

This was a great book. I enjoyed it very much. I will recommend this book to my school library. There's so much action and the book made me smile after reading this book.
